High voltage laboratory

Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering in Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automatics invites foreign prospective students to study in Ukraine at new educational program "ELECTROTECHNICAL DEVICES AND ELECTROTECHNOLOGICAL COMPLEXES"!

Educational program covers a variety of uses electricity. Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering has the biggest high voltage laboratory in Ukraine! In the high-voltage laboratory are conducted laboratory work on the discipline "High Voltage Engineering" for students of the Faculty of Electric Power Engineering and Automatics, scientific work of masters and postgraduate students, solving a number of important problems of electricity.

Training fees

Cost of education for foreign citizens in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in 2019/2020 academic year:

  • Bachelor's degree programme: $2300 per academic year
  • Master's degree programme: $2500 per academic year
  • Doctor of philosophy's degree programme: $4500 per academic year

Language of training is English.

Development of high voltage equipment

The laboratory staff fulfill research and development work on the applications of enterprises and organizations. Only in recent years In the laboratory where were developed a number of modern and unique high voltage electrical equipment. The main feature of the development is the minimum mass and dimensions at the same time, high operating voltage.

  • Secondary (mobile) standard of Ukraine, 110 kV class - intended for conducting metrological works on high-voltage certification higher precision voltage transformers.
  • Precision reference voltage transformer PETN-6/10 - designed for mobile systems and quality measurement laboratories electricity, determination of electricity losses, metrological certification of systems of commercial metering of electricity classes 6 and 10 kV, directly at the place of their installation and operation.
  • Test transformer of voltage VTN-180 - for testing of the electric protective equipment of the class 330 kV according to the latest requirements DNAOP 1.1.10-1.07-01 "Rules of operation of electrical protective equipment".
  • High-voltage meter VVN-0,8-100M - designed for large-scale conversion and measurement of high voltage constant and AC, certification of high-voltage test facilities.
  • High voltage divider VDN-75 - is used for experimental determination of the quality of electricity, directly, in high-voltage electrical networks. Used as a must-have element for connecting electronic quality recorders electricity to power transmission lines of 6 kV; 10 kV; 35 kV and 110 kV.
  • Mobile standard - ETN-110 voltage transformer - used in mobile systems and quality measurement laboratories of electricity, determination of losses of electric energy, metrological certification of systems of commercial accounting of electricity of the class 110 kV, directly, on the spot their installation and operation. The ETN-110 transformer is several times smaller than its prototype - the TNO-110 transformer.
  • Mobile calibration laboratory of voltage classes 0.22… 110 kV - designed for on-site verification UTN-1 voltage transformers; NOM-6; NTMK-6; NTMI-6; NOM-10; NTMK-10; NTMI-10; ZNOM-35; NOM-35; NKF-110 according to GOST 8.216 (with their actual load).
  • In 2012, in cooperation with the Kyiv Polytechnic Science Park, commissioned by the State Enterprise "National Energy" Ukrenergo company produces high voltage 220 kV voltage divider to determine the quality of electricity in high voltage electrical networks. The development of such a high-voltage installation was performed in Ukraine for the first time and transferred to the State Enterprise "National Energy Company" Ukrenergo.
